Fisks bury prop in shallow water
Kyara Fisk will probably never live this down but I simply couldn’t leave this story out.
Kyara’s brother Adam decided to go for a single ski behind their boat, a nameless “Shortline 190”.
Friends Stevie Robinson, Tobias Hack and Aston Mercer went for the joy ride to take in a bit of the action but what was about to happen was truly not what any of them expected.
On route from Copi Hollow to Box Hollow Kyara (who was driving the boat) was towing her brother Adam on his single ski at a “flat out” pace.
Suddenly while going “flat out” the boat stopped dead, propelling its occupants forward forcefully into the front of the boat and slamming Aston’s shoulder into the high pole while their drinks spilled everywhere.
After a stunned silence they realized that they mistook the black murky water for what was just mud under approx 1cm of water and so buried the prop in the mud.
Adam who was still on the ski realised that the boat was no longer moving stopped about 2 meters from the boat, lucky not to slam into the boat as well.
Everyone in the boat was ok, luckily they only suffered a few bruises.
They realized that they would not be able to get the boat out by themselves and so started to flag down other boaters to take them back to shore to get Peter Fisk and others to help. Darryl Clifton picked up Kyara and Stevie and took them in to shore.
They came back with lots of willing helpers (about 10 in total), all trying to pick the boat up or rock the prop out of the mud but to no avail. Frog (Graham) Collins was using his boat to help pull the boat as the blokes were trying desperately to free it. After a couple of goes Frog decided to give it a bit more rev’s to see if it would free the boat and suddenly it moved and was free then there was cheers all round.
The boat was inspected for damage and lucky it there was no damage to report.
Kyara has said from now on she will know to drive into the channel from a much wider angle. Peter Fisk jokingly said that Kyara is now banned from driving the boat and Wife Wendy wants to name the boat “Pug Wash”.
Since this accident Buoy’s have been placed down the channel to direct boats into the safest area.
The Fisk’s would like to thank Frog, the Chapman’s and everyne who helped them out.
