50’s or 60’s
Relaxing outside my van sipping my drink I closed my eyes and leaned back in my chair breathing in the fresh air of Copi Hollow.
I sat back up and opened my eyes only to think I’d been transported to the 50’s…wait no the 60’s. I closed my eyes, then opened them again…nothing had changed.
People were walking up the drive way dressed in 50’s and 60’s outfits.
What was going on?
I then remembered that there was a party for Robert (50) and Leonie’s Adams (60), and the theme of course was the 50’s and 60’s.
Family and friends came from all over Australia to help them celebrate including daughter Naomi and grandchildren Jake, Contarj, Bailey and Samiah all the way from Harvey Bay (which is not as easy as it sounds with the floods causing road closures). Other people came from Gawler, Adelaide, Nooriopta, Orange, Mildura and White Cliffs.
This birthday party was well timed as it included some guests who were also celebrating their birthday’s on the same day. Grandson Jake turned 17, cousin Amber Gross 16 and twin cousin (as Leonie affectionately put it) Elaine turned, you guessed it 60.
What was a party for one night turned into a party which continued over 4 days. The actual party consisted of everyone enjoying a real social chat and lots of dancing fun. Leonie said the music was excellent and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Quality time was spent with family and friends over the 4 days in a relaxing environment which was enjoyed by all who attended.
Robert and Leonie wanted to extend their thanks to the Speedboat Club as they helped out immensely with the pre-prep and clean up, the caretakers Andrew and Sharon Stewart they were a great help, Maz and Peter Pressler for their help, Jamie Liddell for the fantastic night of music and Rickie Cooper and Dennis Hebbard the funniest bar tenders around.
Happy Birthday to everyone who had celebrated their birthday at this event from the Speedboat Club Committee and members.
